The Primal Habits of Humans

Dear Diary:

You wouldn't think cats would be bothered by Mondays, but the truth is, we notice the primal habits of our hoomons change with the start of the week. Fur instance, Monday is trash day. The truck arrives at the Crack of Dawn, and unless Dadders rolls outta bed before that dawn cracks, we all get to enjoy our garbage for another three days. And let me reassure you, our household makes more garbage than ANY other house on our block.

How do we know? Our neighbors all have ridiculously small trash cans. Almost the size of an office wastebasket. Whereas we have a minimum of four tall-size trash bags, plus a few filled boxes of odds and ends. Why so much? Because there are eleventy-zillion of us in residence, and we are still in the act of purging stuff from old house.

Anyway! Having the garbage around to enjoy a few extra days effects Dadder's good humor, especially when Mommers points out that he's now "retired" and the event of getting the trash to the curb on time should be treated like making it to work by 8 a.m., something he did for most of his adult life.

Before you ask why he doesn't curb the garbage the night before, Dadders says Trash Pandas will spread it all over the street. Back at our old house Mom fed the Trash Pandas and they loved her enough to not bother the cans. But here she only tosses apple cores for the rabbits and deer, so the raccoons have called War. Yes, we have plastic garbage bins, but for some curious reason, Dadders removes the bags from the bins and drags them to the curb.

Both me and Mommers plan to invite Jane Goodall over to study this questionable behavior.

Note To Self: Find out who this Jane Goodall is.

Our trash pickup used to be super early but is later now. Either way, Mom puts it out the night before. So far, no problems.

Not a dull moment at your house. It's hard to be retired. You don't know what day it is at all.

We put our bins out the night before and don't have any issues. We don't live out in the country though.

Jane Goodall. I laughed out loud.

Have a fabulous day and week. ♥

Our trash must be worthless, nobody bothers it at all.

We have a big bin, too...LOL! But even though those trash pandas are here as well, they don't seem interested...at least not with ours; we have seen the raided bins at other spots. They must have had more appealing trash, LOL!

Our day is Tuesday and Dad has a nice neighbor who rolls our cans out and most days Dad brings them in which is a good set up. Our Dad has weird behavior getting up at 6 and then drooling on the table after he has coffee. I thought that stuff was supposed to make em zip around? Anyhoo.

Rabbit Rumpy agrees with you. We are not supposed to walk by him except days of the week without "day" in them. Sheesh

There's a "Panda" syndicate in my neighborhood, Rabbit. The spy camera caught them stealing kibble from the food bowl that Mom leaves out for Coalpepper, the stray kitty. Mom says they haven't resorted to dumpster diving (whatever that means).

No need for early mornings here. Our recycling is collected at 10.30 and the trash around 2pm. The biggest problem is that half the time they don't bother to collect from the 3 properties in our lane so I have to notify them. By the time they come back out for it, it has been squished by cars passing each other in out drive entrance!

We don’t like the trash truck. It comes down the alley, so that is close to the house, and it is really noisy. Trash pandas gave us a good snicker. They can get into pretty much anything that isn’t triple locked. We haven’t seen any yet this spring. In your dad’s defense, humans have a hard time keeping track of the days of the week when they are retired.
